I always assumed the copper pot was Russian Made. It belongs to a friend who traveled to Russia many times. The Lilacs were fresh, and the painting was done en Plein air. A group of us had gathered to paint at our friend’s workshop and we chose whatever beautiful still life that caught our fancy.
I traveled to Russia twice to paint and study art. The first time I was with a group for a week in St Petersburg, then continued south to Essentuki on my own where I lodged with one of the finest plein air impressionist painters in the world. The second trip was with my friend Marie. Marie is a fantastic painter and we partnered up to join a group of artists who traveled north of Moscow for nearly a month. We started in Moscow and visited a dozen world class museums, but soon headed north to the wedding city. Later we stayed as guests in a Russian monastery in Rostov and had the time of our lives painting from morning till dark. That was 2016 and it will ever be one of my favorite life experiences as a traveler and as an artist.
