Adam and Eve are symbolically depicted leaving their luxurious and safe home in the Garden of Eden as they enter a fallen world which will quickly prove to be one of unending dangers, trial, trauma, tears and as well as adventure and great joy on every level. This painting was accepted to the Springville Museum of Art in 2019.
I say I am not a religious painter, but the Springville Museum of Fine Art has given me several opportunities to explore spiritual and religious subjects. Adam and Eve are very dear to my heart being cited as the leaders of our civilization and who knows what perils and triumphs, they experienced in their mortal journey together. This painting is my effort to describe their first tentative steps into the ‘Lone Wilderness’ of our telestial earth. It presumes they leave great beauty, comfort, and safety behind, to take on their roles as the first of our generations. As a painter I enjoyed combining the figural and floral aspects with the contrasting rock formations that ‘hedge up the way’, and which present a formidable and unavoidable but exciting journey ahead.
